Eclectic tastes

An unfolding collection of delights

We undertook our first project at this property in Rottingdean in September 2014. At this initial stage, we were involved in architectural alterations to shape the spaces, and installing finishes that would withstand the attentions of two dogs and four cats. Since then, we’ve back three times to work on other areas of the interior. From the outside, the house looks conventional enough, but from the moment you walk through the front door, there’s a succession of unexpected delights to discover and enjoy.

We’re tremendously fortunate to be working with these clients, who have both exquisite taste, and a total belief in our design philosophy. Working together, we’ve created an amazingly eclectic interior with a strong mid-century vibe. The clients love high-end design, and the house is filled with original pieces from leading names; their boxer dogs particularly like the Aram leather sofa!

The colour scheme is inspired by the clients’ collection of aboriginal art; we specified a dark wall finished in Farrow and Ball Railings to display their treasures to best advantage.

"We are in love with the interior design"

“We would like to thank you for transforming our home into something we can call our own. When we first met, our house was rather dull and lacked ‘the personal touch’. But with the spiral staircase and wide spaces, we knew the property had potential.

During the design stage, we were impressed with your initial concept and really liked that you gave us a few options to choose from. We chose your 50s ‘Mad Men’ mid-century design with a modern twist for the ground floor. You provided excellent choices in terms of materials, including our French oak floors and the wall panelling. The large white tiles imported from Italy (with underfloor heating) is another favourite. The bespoke curtains and roman blinds helped add the finishing touches to the downstairs.

We are also in love with the interior design for all of our upstairs bedrooms. From the choice of wall colours, wallpapers and lush grey-silver carpets, you added a warm and cosy touch to each bedroom. The bespoke pieces of upholstered furniture, including two impressive bedroom headboards and the curtains and roman blinds gave each room a unique look and feel. We were also impressed with Graham, the decorator you suggested who helped with the painting and flooring.

A shout out to your team, especially Jenna for always been friendly and helpful. Jenna clearly has a bright future ahead of her, we trusted her impeccable taste when sourcing furniture or ordering bespoke upholstered items. We are aware that we kept you on your toes with our very distinct ways of doing things. We look forward to one day working on another project.

On a personal note, thank you for igniting my new-found passion for interior design. Before working with you, I knew nothing about interior design and furniture designers. I learned a lot and appreciate your help in selecting the right designer furniture pieces. Here are a few photos of the house just before we purchased it and the new photos after the renovation, showing how beautiful and special you made our home.”
